| With the appearance of the Gundam, the Principality of Zeon sought to initiate its own game of Mobile Suit catch-up. The first of these was the Gouf, the first ground-oriented Mobile Suit. The unit was designed to work better on the ground and was outfitted with a number of weapons, the most unique of which was the Heat Rod mounted under its right wrist, allowing it to either bind his opponent and electrocute him or superheat the whip so it could cut through metal. Ramba Ral was one of the more recognized Gouf pilots, famously fighting the Gundam to a number of standstills before perishing. However, the Gouf would soon be outclassed by its successor, the Dom. |
